End of the ReTiNO2 project
The ReTiNO2 project, granted in 2014 by the French funding agency (ANR), has come to an end. ReTiNO2 was a proof-of-concept research on building artificial retina based on the visible light sensitivity of carpets of titanium dioxide nanotubes. R&Dnano (RBnano) greatly contributed to the success of this project by bringing its experience in the fields of titanium strip cutting, segmentation of the nanotube mat in pixels and the isolation of these pixels by sol-gel coatings alumina. Numerous know-hows related to the exploitation of titanium and of these oxides has greatly been reinforced. The technology transfer of this work continues and the search for funding in order to build a proptotype and offering a potential new and efficient solution to patients suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
