On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, R & Dnano participated with eleven other partners in the kick-off meeting of the EVEREST project which aims to replace hexavalent chromium in the anticorrosion treatment by chemical conversion of aeronautical aluminum alloys.
Process development without hexavalent chromium is becoming more than a necessity as its use is strictly regulated by the EU. Since September 2017, a derogation has been necessary to place on the market products treated with hexavalent chromium. This authorization is limited in time and the EU strongly urges users to find a high-performance replacement process that the chemical conversion to chromium.
For 4 years, R & Dnano will develop sol-gel protective and conductive treatment processes, and optimize the deposition process with other partners under the coordination of the IRT-M2P.
